But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ. (2 Corinthians 11:3)
As we see from the story of Eve in Genesis, deception has been a part of the human experience from the beginning. The gospel is about dispelling that deception. The Christian life could be thought of as a journey from deception to truth. And as Jesus said, when we know the truth it will set us free. The transformation God promises in the Bible includes our spiritual and emotional healing. Jesus signified how important healing was in God’s plan by healing people physically everywhere he went. How much more important our inward healing must be to Him!
If the challenges of your life are holding you back, couples counseling can help you move forward and grow while you develop a relationship with God.
God has provided a scriptural plan for healing that He intends for every Christian. But to grasp it we need to see the big picture, which begins with Adam and Eve, reaches its climax with the life and death of Christ, and culminates in the restoration of God’s people by the Holy Spirit. It’s critical that we see this larger plan, because it affects not just the way we approach healing, but our entire understanding of it. Sadly, most Christians have completely missed the big picture. This is our greatest tragedy!
Seeing God’s plan
Why is it so important to see the big picture? We must understand that God has a plan for us. And it’s an amazing plan: God is conforming us to the likeness of Christ Himself. We must approach everything, including healing, in the context of this big picture. We see His intentions in the original creation, when He instructed Adam and Eve to rule over the earth. Through Christ, we recapture that destiny.
